Public Notice
The proposed Māʻalea Regional Reclamation System (MRWRS) site is located off of Hauʻoli St, within the Waikapū Ahupua‘a, Wailuku District, Island of Maui.
The MRWRS will address wastewater pollution in Māʻalaea Bay from 22 injection wells while also mitigating wildfire risk and sediment runoff by establishing a greenbelt fire-break planted with native and functional plant species irrigated with recycled water. The MRWRS will treat and eliminate wastewater discharge by treating and recycling water for irrigation reuse. It will use advanced mechanical and biological methods to produce the highest quality R1 recycled water to establish a multi-functional and beautiful landscape that is a firebreak, wind break and ecological regeneration.
